The FILES section of the manpage for `smbd’ may give some hints. I don’t have any Solaris box handy, so cannot unfortunately confirm.

I ve search for days on i-net and alsoo install 1.1.11 firmware for wlan450 to get HDMI working.

But no results.

After is did it youre way it works!!!!!!!!!!

I was about to purchase the media player which seemd to ne “idiot proof2 now after reading this I changed my mind I am not technicly PC literate and this seems to me mind boggling to me .Can ANYONE reassure me ??

All useful stuff… but – any idea on how to get the Freecom to see a Mac folder of movies?

I’ve only had it 5 minutes, but it sure is a little complicated. I’ve only managed to get it to play internet radio so far…

Re using the media player as a file server, yes there is a function to do that using NDAS but that requires you to install some software on Windows/Mac. I've not investigated this so I can't help any more than that. You can get the latest version of the manual at Freecom's support website.

I have updated the firmware – which is an easy enough process. I need to try playing AVI files of different sizes and from different sources to see if any will play. It could be the codec used by my Canon IXUS camera that’s not supported… As you say, though, the blurb says the media player will play ‘AVI’ – which suggests any AVI file.

Curious about the AVI playback. Have you tried updating the firmware on the Freecom? It says you can in the blurb.

It was an awesome howto. It worked perfectly.

I was worried because the box cannot access to my shared folders and there are too much parameters in samba for changing one by one with no sense.

Do you know if the FreeCom MP can act as a file server, i.e. can one access its local files remotely, from a PC?
